Born in Ottowa, Canada, on June 1, 1974, Alanis Morissette appeared on a handful of episodes of the canadian kid's TV show "You Can't Do That On Television." She became a teen star in Canada with the release of two hhit dance-pop albums on which she was credited simply as "Alanis." Still in her teens, she relocated to Los Angeles and teamed up with top producer Glen Ballard. Her 1995, "Jagged Little Pill" album propelled by the hits "You Oughta Know" "Hand In My Pocket" sold 33 million copies worldwide and earned multiple awards. Her follow-up album, 1998's "Supposed Former Infatuation, Junkie" topped the Billboard charts. As did 2002's "Under Rug Swept" her three, subsequent studio albums all went top 10. She contributed the song "Uninvited" to the 1998 movie "City of Angels" and added two more Grammys to her tally as a result. Having played God in the 1999 movie "Dogma" she has continued to add to her acting credits, in film and on stage and tv, most notably with a recurring role on "Weeds." In December, the stage musical "Jagged Little Pill" debuted on Broadway. 2020 will see Morissette who has sold more than 75 million records to date- celelbrate 25th Anniversary of the "Jagged Little Pill" album with a nationwide tour and a new album.
