2020: Milestones in Music A look at some of the noteworthy anniversaries during the coming year... 80 Years: Ringo Starr was born in 19990, as was fellow Beatle John Lennon, who was assassinated in New York in 1980. 70 Years: Stevie Wonder was born in 1950. His debut single came out when he was only 11 years of age! 60: In 1960, the year that u2 frontman Bono was born Paul Henson in Dublin, Ireland , the best-selling single in the world was Elvis Presley's "It's Now or Never" which sold more than 200 million copies! 50 Years: Two music superstars died in 1970 guitar great Jimi Hendrix and singer Janis Joplin both stars were only 27 years old and both were victims of excessive rock lifestyles. 40 Years: Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham died in 1980. "Bonzo" was 32 years old. 30 Years: The best-selling single of 1990 was "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O'Connor. 20 Years: Carlos Santana dominated the 2000 grammys. His comeback album "Supernatural" winning eight awards! 10 Years: In 2010, Lady Gaga became the first artist in Billboards history to have their first five singles top the charts.
