Born in Dulwich, London, on May 14, 1963 Tim Roth dropped out of Art school to pursue his acting ambitions. London Theater work was followed by his stunning screen debut, portraying a brutal skinhead in the gritty 1982 tv film "Made In Britain" further stage and tv work led to his movie debut opposite John Hurt and Terence Stamp, om "The Hit" he went on to star as Van Gogh in "Cincent & Theo" and teamed up with his friend and frequent collaborator Gary Oldman in "Rosencranz & Guildstern are Dead." He turned down the role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies to play the ruthless general thade in Tim Burton's "Planet of The Apes" and was considered for the lead in 2003's "Hannibal" before Anthony Hopkins reclaimed the role of Lecter. He played villains and "The Musketeer" "To Kill A King" and "The Incredible Hulk" while showcasing his versatility movies and diverse as the spooky "Dark Water" and the chiller-thriller "Funny Games." In 2009, Roth made the switch to small screen leading man with his portrayal of Dr. Cal Lightman on the crime series "Lie To Me" which ran for three seasons. Disillusioned iwht the british film industry, he made movies everywhere from Australia to Africa to France. But his sights were set on America and roles in two Quentin Tarantino movies "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" established him as one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood. His first big-budget studio movie saw him star opposite Liam Neeson in 1995's "Rob Roy" and his scene stealing portraylal of evil nobleman Archibald Cunningham earned him Gilden Globe and Academy Award nominations subsequent projects ranged from the Woody Allen musical "Everyone Says I Love You" to "Gridlock'd" opposite rapper Tupac Shakur. Further movie roles included a detective in the Richard Gere thriller drama "Arbitrage" and a portrayal of Governor George Wallace in "Selena". He collaborated with Tarantinononce more for "The Hateful Eight" has racked up tv credits including the mini-series "Klondike" "Twin Peaks" and the lead on Amazon Prime's cop drama "Tin Star" he can be seen on movie screens this month opposite Clive Owen in the drama "The Song of Names.
