Born in Los Angeles on January 15, 1971, Regina King appeared in a McDonald's commercial at the age of 10. She studied acting in a theater group run by Betty Bridges, mother of Diff'rent Strokes star Todd Bridges. Regina was 14 years old when she got her big break landing the role of Brenda Jenkins on the sitcom "2227" which ran for five years. She made her big-screen debut in director John Singleton's 1991 movie "Boys In The Hood" and then appeared in his movies "Poetic Justice" and then appeared in his movies "Poetic Justice" and "Higher Learning." Her work on the anthology drama series "American Crime" earned her two Emmy awards from three nominations and a golden globe nomination. She went on to play featured roles in such movies as "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate" "Jerry Maguire" "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "Enemy of The State" throughout the 2000s, she had recurring roles on a number of tv shows, including "24" and "Southland" and her movie credits included "Daddy Day Care" "A Cinderella Story" "Ray" "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Bonde" and "Miss Congeniality 2: Red, White, and Fabulous." She also voiced the lead characters of Huey and Riley Freeman on the animated series adaptaion of The Boondocks comic strip. Having won an Oscar and a Gilden Globe for the movie "If Beale Street Could Talk" she is currently starring as Angelar Abar aka Sister Night on the hit HBO series "Watchmen"
