Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell was born in Los Angeles on December 18th, 2001. Home-scholed, she joined the Los Angeles Children's chorus at the age of 8. She was writing songs by the age of 11, inspired by elder brother Finneas O'Connell, who was writing, performing and producing music with his own band. In late 2015, she recorded a song written by her brother, "Ocean Eyes" and her dance teacher helped choreograph a dance to it. The song quickly gained attention on Soundcloud and led to a major record deal. Her popularity grew over a string of 2017 releases, in early 2018, she teamed up with Khalid on the track "Lovely" for the official soundtrack of the Netflix series "13 Reasons Why." 2018 saw her sign a modeling contract, go out on tour and release a string of singles, culminating on "Come Out and Play" written for a holiday-themed apple commerical. In early 2019, her "Don't Smile At Me" EP hit the U.S. top 20. Her album "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" Debited at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, making Billie the first artist born in the 21st century to have a U.S. chart-topping album. Fourteen of the tracks charted simultaneously on the singles chart, a new record for a female artist, the album also hit the top spot in 15 other countries!
