Born Thomas john woodward in the tiney village of Treforest in Pontypridd, Glamorgan wales, on June 7, 1940. He married hos, high school sweetheart, when they were both only 16 years old. Their son, Mark was born soon after, to support his young family, Tom worked in a glove factory and later in construction. By 1964, he was fronting the beat group Tommy Scott and the Senators, applying local clubs and dance halls, he was spotted by music biz manager Gordon Mills and was soon living in London, his name changed to Tom Jones to capitalize on the success of the popular Albert Finney movie of that name, which had recently won four Oscars, released in 1965. Its not unusual soraded to the top if the UK singles chart and took him into the bilboard top 10! Hits such as "Green Green Grass of Home and "Deliah" and the theme songs to the movies "what's new pussycat" and "Thunderball" cemented his fame, HIs energetic stage performances made him a sensation in Vegas and his TV variety shows made him a superstar. He went on to enjoy great success on the country charts and continued to perform regularly in vegas. TOM JONES Following the death of Gordon Mills in 1986, Toms's son Mark, took over managerial duties as an instigated a complete change of direction. Tom recorded a cover of Prince's Kiss and the video won the MTV Video music Glastonbury festival, had a cameo in the Movie "Mars attacks: and recorded an album of duets with such stars as Van Morrison, Natalie Imbruglia and the Cardigans, He entered the 21st century widely regarded as ship and relevant living legend! In 2006, He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace his wealth was estimated at that time to be more than 200 million dollars. By 2010, he sold in excess of 100 million records! Sadly, in 2016, Linda Jones passed away. They had been married for 59 years! This month Sir Tom embarks of a string of US dates that kick off a lengthy world tour.
