Born in Chicago on May 24, 1965, John C. Reilly began acting in amateur productions at the age of 8 and eventually became a member of the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre. He made his screen debut in 1989's "Casualties of War" impressing director Brian De Palma so much during filming that his role was significantly expanded. Subsequent credits included "Days of Thunder" "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and "The River Wild." Following roles in "Hard Eight" "Boogie Nights" "Magnolia" "The Perfect Storm" and "Gangs of New York" he received best-supporting actor Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for the 2002 musical "Chicago" His starring role in 2007's "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" earned him Golden Globe and Grammy nominations. Other credits ranged from comedies such as "The Promotion" and "Cyrus" to the dark fantasy of "Cirque De Freak: The Vampire's Assistant" from the superhero movie "Guardians of The Galaxy" to such animated fare as "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Sing" In 2017, he had a featured role in the hit monster movie "Kong: Skull Island" since 2010, he has starred on TV's "Check It Out! With Dr. Steve Brule" a show he co-created and on which he also acts as a writer and executive producer. As a musician, he has toured and recorded and received a grammy nomination, and his work on the New York stage brought him a Tony nomination. Having recently starred in "The Sisters Brothers" and reprised his "Wreck-It Ralph" role in "Ralph Breaks The Internet" he has teamed up once more with Will Ferrell- their previous collaborations include "Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby" and "Step Brothers" as the fabled detectives in "Holmes & Watson." he will follow that with his portrayal of Oliver Hardy in the upcoming "Stan & Ollie."
