Born in the Bronx, New York, on July 24, 1969, Jennifer Lopez, was a member of the Fly Girls dance troupe on "In Living Color" the sketch comedy show that launched the careers of Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx. She danced in videos for the likes of Janet Jackson. But soon began to concentrate on acting, roles in movies such as "Money Train." with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, and "Jack" opposite Robin Williams, led to her starring role in the 1997 biopic "Selena". Her portrayal of the tragic latina pop star earned her a Golden Globe nomination and paved the way for her recording career. Her movie star status ensured that hear 1999 debut album, "On the 6" was heavily promoted, and the debut single, "If You Had My Love" rocked to the top of the charts. The hits kept coming- as did the box office smashes. In 2001, she achieved the remarkable feat of topping the U.S. charts with the J.Lo album at the same time she had the country's No. 1 movie with "The Wedding Planner." Subsequent hits included "Main In Manhattan" "Shall We Dance?" and "Monster-In-Law" despite the occasional bomb-2003's Gigli" was universally panned and performed dismally-she became the highest-paid Latin actress in movie history. Following the birth of her twins in 2008, she took a break from her career. But by 2011- the year she topped the charts in 18 countries with her megahit single "On The Floor" she was starring at a judge alongside Steven Tyler on TV juggernaut "American Idol." She undertook a hugely successful world tour in 2012. Film roles included the female lead in the crime thriller Parker and voicing Shira in two movies in the "Ice Age" series. Fragrances, jewelry, clothing lines and screen production interests have contributed to her immense wealth. Most recently, she starred in the hit TV series "Shades Of Blue" at the same time as playing a three-year Las Vegas residency that grossed more than $100 million! This month sees her return to the big screen in the romantic comedy "Second Act."
