Born in London, on September 15, 1977, and educated at private schools, Tom Hardy worked briefly as a model while attending drama school. His career was launched in 2001 with two war productions: the TV miniseries "Band of Brothers" and the Ridley Scott movie "Black Hawk Down." Following the high-profile role of Praetor Shinzon, a clone of captain Jean-Luc Picard, in "Star Trek: Nemesis" his british tv credits included "Colditz" "The Virgin Queen" "Wuthering Heights" and a dark portrayal of the villainous Bill Sikes in "Oliver Twist" while his movie role included Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla" and the lead in 2008's "Bronson" a role that earned him a british independent film award for best actor. The 2010 Blockbuster "Inception" earned him awards acclaim and audience attention. In 2001, he packed on the muscle to play the lead in the fight drama "Worrior" and replaced Michael Fassbender in the espionage drama "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy." In early 2012, Tom starred opposite Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine in the spy romance "This means war." That same year, "The Dark Knight Rises" saw him beef up even more to play Batman's nemesis, the menacing Bane, in one of hte biggest movies of the year, subsequent movies included "Lawless" "Locke" "The Drop" and "Child44" In 2014, he debuted his sinister Alfie Solomons character in the cult hit tv series "Peaky Blinders." 2015 saw him star in "Mad Max: Fury Road" play real-life gangster twins in "Legend" and star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Revenant." In 2017, he took a supporting role in "Dunkirk" and co-created and starred in the tv series "Taboo." His latest role brings him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking the lead in the superhero movie "Venom." He will return to the big screen in 2019, playing gangster Al Capone in Fonzo.
