Tom Clancy's literary career began with the 1984 publication of his debut novel "The Hunt for Red October." The book introduced the world to Jack Ryan, who would become one of the most famous characters in modern fiction. By the time Clancy died in 2013, he had become a very rich man with more than 100 million copies of his books in print.
