Born in San Diego on November 19, 1983, Adam Driver was raised in Mishawaka, Indiana, from the age of seven. He worked as a vacuum cleaner salesman and a telemarketer before joining the United States Marine Corps shortly after the September 11 attacks. Less than three years into his service, he was medically discharged after breaking his sternum while mountain biking. He attended the university of Indianapolis fora year before transferring to Julliard to study drama. After graduating with a bachelor of fine arts degree in 2009, he appeared on the New York stage, landed small tv roles and made his feature film debut in Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar," he rose to prominence when he was cast in the HBO series "Girls" a role that earned him three Emmy nominations. Subsequent movie work included roles in "Lincoln" and "Frances Ha." He won a best actor award at the venice film festival for his performance in Hungry Hearts" and the lucille lortel award for outstanding featured actor in a play for his work in an off-broadway production of "Look Back In Anger." Global stardom came with his portrayal of the villanous Kylo Ren in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." a role he reprised two years later in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" other credits have included "Paterson" and "Silence." This month sees him star in Spike Lee's "Blackklansman."
