Born in Anderson, South Carolina, on November 29, 1976, Chadwick Boseman earned a bachelor of Fine Arts in directing from Howard University in Washington D.C. His original passion was writing and directing, and he only began to study drama to help him relate to actors, but he was inspired by Howard's visiting guest professor, Phylicia Rashad- who is best known for her portrayal Clair Huxtable on "The Cosby Show" to explore his acting range. He subsequently attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England and graduated from New York's digital film academy. He was a drama instructor at the Schomburg Center for research in black culture in Harlem, New York. Early acting credits included roles on "Third Watch" "Law and Order" "CSI: NY" and "ER" he continued to work as a playwright, and he was nominated for a Jeff Award for his scrip for "Deep Azure." 2008 brought his big-screen debut in "The Express" and a recurring role on TV's "Lincoln Heights" In 2010, he was a regular on the NBC drama series, "Persons Unknown." He was directing an off-broadway play and seriously considering abandoning his acting ambitions when he got his big break, landing the starring role of Baseball great Jackie Robinson in the 2013 biopic "42." He played opposite Kevin Costner in "Draft Day" before starring as R&B legend James Brown in "Get On Up." He went on to play a deity in "Gods of Egypt" a South African vigilante in "Message From The King" and the first African-American Supreme Court Justice in "Marshall." He played African prince T'Challa aka superhero The Black Panther, in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War." It was the first film in a five-movie deal that sees him star in this month's "Black Panther" and reprise the role later this year in "Avengers Infinity War."
