Alice Cooper turns 70 years old today! The son of a preacher, he was born Vice Furnier in Detroit on February 4, 1948. He spent his teens in phoenix, where- inspired by The Beatles- he formed his first band, The Spiders, in 1964. They later changed their name to Nazz and relocated to Los Angeles before becoming Alice Cooper signed to Frank Zappa's record label, The band's "Shock Rock" stage show, which featured an electric chair, a guillotine, and a live boa constrictor, was a media sensation. They followed the hit "I'm Eighteen" with 1972 worldwide smash "School's Out" and rocked the album charts with "Billion Dollar Babies." By the time he went solo in 1975, Furnier had adopted the band's name as his own. He has gone on to enjoy a career that has encompassed 20 studio albums. He has toured extensively, has appeared in numerous movies, including "Wayne's World" and "Dark Shadows" and is a celebrity golfer, a restauranter, and a radio DJ. In 2015, Alice teamed up with actor Johnny Depp and Aerosmith's Joe Perry to form the supergroup Hollywood Vampires. In 2011, the original Alice Cooper band was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
