Born in Washington, D.C. on September 20, 1976, Jon Bernthal excelled at sports through high school and college. His nose, which has been broken 14 times, is a testament to his boxing background, and he was good enough as baseball to play in the European Leagues for a Russian team during his time studying acting at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre. Following further studies at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he worked extensively in regional and off-broadway theater. He had small roles on a number of TV shows, including "Boston Legal" "How I Met Your Mother" and "CSI: Miami" before landing a recurring role on the short-lived series "The Class" he followed that with a regular role on "Eastwick." His early movie credits included Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" and "Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian." He earned acclaim for his work on the HBO series "The Pacific." His major breakthrough came in 2010 when he was cast as Deputy Sheriff Shane Walsh on the hit TV series "The Walking Dead." He stayed wiht the show for two years, going on to take the lead role in the TV series "Mob City" further movie credits included "The Wolf Of Wall Street." "Grudge Match" the Brad Pitt war movie "Fury." the crime thriller "Sicario" and Ben Affleck's "The Accountant." He made his debut as brutal vigilante frank Castle in 2016 on the second season of "Daredevil" before the character was spun off into the tv series "The Punisher." Netflix has confirmed a second season is in the works, having appeared in the likes of "Baby Driver" Jon has a number of movies in the pipeline, scheduled for release in 2018.
