Liam Neeson Born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, on June 7, 1952 Liam Neeson telephoned a belfast theater on a whim and asked for a job. He gave his age and his height, and because they were looking to cast in the role... over the telephone! By the early 1980s, he was racking up movie credits, with roles in the likes of "Excalibur" "Krull," and "The Bounty." Following support roles in "The Mission" and "A Prayer For the Dying" he relocated to Hollywood, landing roles in "Suspect," "The Good Mother" "The Dead Pool" and "Next of Kin." "Darkman" in which Neeson starred as a disfigured superhero, was a surprise hit in the summer of 1990. In 1993 he starred in "Shindler's List" which earned him Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, before starring in movies as diverse as the swashbuckling Rob Roy and the moving drama "Nell" and earning anther Goldn Globe nomination for "Michael Collins" He starred as Jean Val Jean in "Les Miserables" and Qui-Gon Jinn in "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace." Subsequent work ran the gamut from "K-19: The Windowmaker" to "Gangs of New York" from "Love Actually" to "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Batman Begins" and he earned another Golden Globe nomination for "Kinsey" he earned Tony Award for nominations for his theater work in "Anna Christie" and "The Crucible." He has gone on to star in the "Taken" series of movies and voiced Aslan in "The Chronicles of Narnia" Film Series. In 1999, he was honored by Britian's Queen Elizabeth II, who made him an officer of the order of the British Empire. Tragedy struck in 2009 when his wife of 15 years and mother of their two children- Natasha Richardson, died following a skiing accident. Having recently confirmed that he will no longer star in action films, Liam can be seen throwing one last punch this month in the thriller "The Commuter."
