2018: Milestones in TV & Movies 110 Years: This week, we look at some of the major milestones in the world of TV and movies that will be reached in 2018. Two legends of the screen were born in 1908. Bette Davis, the first woman to receive the American Film institute lifetime achievemtn award, was the first person to earn 10 Oscar nominations for acting, winning twice. James Stewart, a genuine war hero, won one Oscar from Five nominations and received the Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. 90 Years: Among those born in 1928 were tv greats Patrick McGoohan, who starred in "Secret Agent" and "The Prisoner," "Batman" star Adam West, and James Garner of "The Rockford Files" and "Maverick" fame. Director Stanley Kubrick was born in 1928. Among the movie stars also born 90 years ago were Martin Landau, James Coburn, and Shirley Temple. 80 Years: Diana Rigg turns 80. Her credits range from TV's "The Avengers" to "Game Of Thrones." 70 Years: "Pulp Fiction" and "Shaft" star Samuel L. Jackson turns 70 in 2018. 60 Years: Sharon Stone and Gary Oldman will turn 60 in 2018. Among the TV shows that debuted in 1958 was "77 Sunset Strip." 50 Years: TV shows ending in 1968 included "Batman" "The Monkees" and "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." the first "Planet Of The Apes" movie premiered that year Steve McQueen was the height of his fame, starring in "Bullitt" and "The Thomas Crown Affair." Clint Eastwood had three movies in the release "Hang 'Em High" "Coogan's Bluff" and "Where Eagles Dare." Will Smith turns 50 in 2018. 40 Years: Classic TV shows that debuted in 1978 included "Fantasy Island" "Mork & Mindy" "Dallas" and "The Incredible Hulk." 30 Years: "The Wonder Years," "Murphy Brown" and "Roseanne" were just some of the TV shows that debuted in 1988. 20 Years: Two legendary singing cowboys, 91-year-old Gene Autry and 86-year-old Roy Rogers both died in 1998. 10 Years: Heath Ledger and Paul Newman were just two of the stars who died in 2008. TV launches included "Breaking Bad" and "True Blood" 5 Years: Star of "The Sopranos" 51-year-old James Gandolfini died in 2013.
