2018: Milestones in Music. 80 Years: This week, we look at some of the major milestones and anniversaries in music that will be reached in 2018. Myths and legends swirl around the life and death of legendary bluesman Robert Johnson, who died in 1938 at the age of, in mysterious circumstances. Hailed by Eric Clapton as the "most important blues singer that ever lived." Johnson was one of the first inductees into the rock and roll hall of fame. Among the music icons who were born in 1938 are "Summertime Blues" star Eddie Cochran, who was killed in a car crash at the age of 21, and soul great Ben E. King. 70 Years: Among the rock legends born in 1948 are Steven Tyler, Ozzy Osbourne, Stevie Knicks, James Taylor, Robert Plant, and Alice Cooper. 60: Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince were all born in 1958. That same year, Elvis Presley was inducted into the U.S. Army... and Iran banned rock & roll music! 50 Years: Billed as The New Yardbirds, the band that would soon change their name to Led Zeppelin played their first show 50 years ago! 40 Years: 32-year-old Keith Moon, drummer with The Who, died in his sleep in 1978. R&B star Usher was born in Dallas, Texas. 30: Roy Orbison passed away in 1988 at the age of 52. That same year, Adele was born in London, and Rihanna was born in Barbados. 20 Years: Frank Sinatra died at the age of 82. 10 Years: 65-year old Isaac Hayes died. The soul music star was also the voice of Chef on TV's "South Park." 5 Years: 2018 marks five years since the death of Lou Reed.
