Born in San Saba, Texas, on September 15, 1946, Tommy Lee Jones majored in English at Harvard, where he roomed with future U.S. Vice President Al Gore. His first TV role after graduation was a stint as a doctor on the daytime soap "One Life To Live" and he made his big-screen debut in the 1970s, he appeared on TV Shows, including "Barnaby Jones" "Baretta" and "Charlie's Angels" In 1980, he earned a Golden Globe nomination for his role in "Coal Miner's Daughter," and in 1982, he won an Emmy for "The Executioner's Song." 1989's TV miniseries "Lonesome Dove" brought another Emmy nomination. Having earned an Oscar nomination for "JFK" he won the best supporting actor Academy Award for 1993's "The Fugitive" thanks to roles in the likes of "Batman Forever" and "Men In Black" by the end of the decade, he was one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. Other credits included "U.S. Marshals" "Small Soldiers" "Space Cowboys" with Clint Eastwood and the ensemble comedy "A Prarie Home Companion." 2007 saw him earn great acclaim for "No Country for Old Men" and receive an Academy Award nomination for "In the Valley of Elah," He was also Oscar-nominated for his role in 2012's "Lincoln." He has continued to appear in the "Men in Black" sequels and taken roles in major blockbusters such as "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Jason Bourne." in 2016, he was reunited with "JFK" co-stars Kevin Costner and Gary Oldman for the thriller "Criminal." This month, Jones stars with Morgan Freeman and Rene Russo in "Just Getting Started."
