Born Alessis Caracciolo in Brampton, Ontario, on July 11, 1996, Canadian singer and songwriter Alessia Cara began playing guitar at the age of 10. When she was 13, she launched her own Youtube channel and began posting cover versions of popular songs by such artists as Adele, Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse and The Neighborhood. She quickly found an audience of online fans, including the daughter of music mogul Tony Perez, who insisted that her dad check out the videos. Perez signed Alessia to his EP Entertainment company and partnered her with another one of his artists, Sebastian Kole, to write and record demos. Her first single, "Here" was released on Def Jam in the spring of 2015. The song went on to become a big hit worldwide, hitting the top 5 in the U.S and going triple Platinum. Subsequent hits have included "Scars To Your Beautiful" and her collaboration with European DJ Zedd, "Stay" Alessia toured Europe as support for Coldplay and played the Glastonbury Festival. The video for her "How Far I'll Go" single, from Disney movie Moana, has had more than 150 million views on Youtube. Earlier this year, she and Khalid were featured on rapper Logic's huge hit "1-800-273-8255"
