What do Gollum, King Kong, Caesar, The CHimpanzee, Tintin's Captain Haddock and Supreme Leader Snoke from the recent "Star Wars" movies have in common? They were all brought to life on the big screen by Andy Serkis, the man widely acclaimed as the world's leading motion-capture actor. Born in Ruislip in England, on April 20, 1964, Serkis honed his acting craft on the London Stage and in various touring productions, and racked up movie and TV credits in numerous U.K productions. His portryal of Gollum in "The Lord of The Rings" triology established him as the leading motion-capture actor, a process in which a CGI character is animated from an actor's digitally captured performance. This technique was also used to capture his performance as Caesar in the "Planet of The Apes" series of movies, as the lead in 2005s "King Kong" as Captain Haddock in The Adventures of Tintin. and as "Supreme Leader Snoke" in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" roles in which Serkis also provides the voice performance. In 2011, he co-founded London's Imaginarium studios, a company dedicated to the invention of digital characters using performance capture technology. Other roles have ranged from a portrayal of singer Ian Dury in the biopic "Sex Drugs & Rock & Roll" to Ulysses Klaue in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He will follow this summer's "War For The Planet of the Apes" in which he once more portrays Caesar by reprising his Supreme Leader Snoke role in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" he has taken on Director and producer duties- as well as the role of Baloo- for the next year's release of "Jungle Book."
