Freida Pinto was born in Mumbai, India on October 18, 1984. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature before embarking on a successful modeling career, she also anchored a TV travel show for two years, all while trying to break into movie acting. Her big break came when director Danny Boyle cast her as Latika in the 2008 worldwide hit "Slumdog Millionaire" The movie garnered eight Oscars, and Freida earned huge critical acclaim for her screen debut. She also found romance with her leading man, British actor Dev Patel. Her next role was opposite Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins in Woody Allen's 2010 comedy, "You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger." She followed taht with a complete change of pace, starring in the title role of "Miral," Julian Schinabel's controversial drama about palestinan refugees and orphans. 2011 saw her star in four movies, including "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" with James Francp and the action fantasy "Immortals" with Henry Cavill and Mickey Rourke. Her latest role is starring opposite Idris Elba in the Showtime TV series "Guerrilla," in which she plays a revolutionary in 1970s Britian. In 2018, Freida will star in the live-action "Jungle Book" with a cast that includes Andy Serkis, Christian Bale, Benedict Cumberbatch and Cate Blanchett.
