The Chainsmokers were formed as an electronic Dance Music Duo in 2012, when DJ Rhett Bixler dropped out to pursue other avenues, Alex Pall teamed up with Andrew Taggart, and the pair began collaborating on remixes of various Indie Bands. They released the novelty single #selfie in late 2013. It was re-released by a major label and became a worldwide hit... but relationships with the label soon sourced, and in 2015 they negotiated a release from their deal and signed to the disruptor, a label imprint launched by their manager. "Roses" a track featuring singer Rozes, taken from their debut EP "Boquet" was a multi-platinum hit worldwide. "Don't Let Me Down" featuring Daya was an even bigger hit, reaching the top three of the Billboard Charts. The summer of 2016 saw Taggart and Pall conquer the world's pop charts with the smash-hit single "Closer" featuring singer Halsey. "Closer" was No. 1 in 17 countries. It spent 12 weeks at the top of the U.S. charts and went on to spend a record 26 weeks in the top five. Subsequent hits, such as "Paris" and "Sometimes Just Like This" a collaboration with Coldplay-have established The Chainsmokers, who are currently midway through a huge North American Arena tour, as EDM and pop superstars!
