Alexander Skarsgard was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on August 25, 1976. His Dad, Stellan, is a hugely successful actor whose credits include two "Pirates of The Caribbean" movies "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and portraying Dr. Erik Selvig in a number of movies in the Marvel cinematic universe. An actor from the age of 7, Alexander became a child star in Sweden but turned his back on acting in his early teens. After completing his national service in Swedish military, he studied english at a university in England and reignited his passion for acting with a theater course in New York. Returning to Sweden, Alexander landed tv, movie and stage roles before he was cast in the 2001 Hollywood comedy "Zoolander" he relocated to Los Angeles in 2004. Having starred as Sergeant Brad "Iceman" Colbert in the 2008 HBO miniseries "Generation Kill" he gained legions of new admirers when he was cast as 1,000-year-old vampire Eric Northman in HBO's "True Blood" during the show's seven-season run, Alexander continued to rack up credits in movies as diverse as the dark thriller "Straw Dogs" and the sci-fi action film "Battleship" which was loosely based on a board game! Having donned a loincloth to take the lead in 2016's "The Legend Of Tarzan" Alexander has returned to the small screen, teaming up with Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman in the HBO miniseries "Big Little Lies."
