Danny Devito was born in Neptume Township, New Jersey, on November 17, 1944. While working as a hairdresser at his sister's beauty salon, he applied to take makeup classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. It was there that he realized that acting was his true calling, and he began to take acting classes, graduating in 1966. He worked briefly at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut, where he met and became close friends with Micahel Douglas. When Douglas subsequently produced the 1975 movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" he invited Danny, who had appeared in a stage production of the play, to reprise the role of Martini. The movie was a huge success. Danny's major breakthrough came when he landed the role of Louis, the hard-hearted acid-tongued cab dispatcher, on the hit TV show "Taxi" it ran for five years and earned him an Emmy and a Golden Globe. He teamed up with Michael Douglas again for "Romancing The Stone" "The Jewel Of The Nile" and "The War Of The Roses" starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Twins" played The Penguin in "Batman Returns" and had starring roles in the likes of Tin Men" and "Throw Momma From The Train." Voicework has ranged from "Space Jam" and "Hercules" to "The Lorax" behind the camera, not only did he direct and produce a number of his own movies, but his production company is responsible for such hits as "Pulp Fiction" "Get Shorty" "Erin Brockovich" and the popular tv show "Reno 911! " Since 2005, Danny has starred in the hit sitcom "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" he has continued to act, produce and direct. His latest movie, "The Comedian" casts him alongside "Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and a stellar lineup of comedy stars.
