This week, we look at some of the major milestones and anniversaries in music that will be reached in 2017. 80 Years: The eldest of the brothers who made up soul greats The Isley Brothers, O'Kelly Isley was born in 1937. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame 6 years after his 1986 Death. 70 Year: Among the music legends born in 1947 are Elton John, and David Bowie and Carlos Santana. 60 Years: Elvis Presley topped the Billboard singles chart four times in 1957, the same year he bought the memphis Graceland. Meanwhile, in Liverpool, England, 15-year-old Paul McCartney met 16-year-old John Lennon. 50 Years: The brainchild of John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas, the Montrey Pop Festival was staged in 1967. Artists included The Jim Hendrix Experience, The Who and Otis Redding. 40 Years: The world was stunned by the 1977 death of 42-year-old Elvis Presley. Other deaths that year included Bing Crosby and Marc Bolan of T.Rex. Coldplay's Chris Martin turns 40 in 2017. 30 Years: Aretha Franklin, 'The Queen Of Soul" was the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. It was the second year of inductions. 20 Years: 1997: Paul McCartney was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Inxs frontman Michael Hutchence was found dead at the age of 37. 10 Years: The 2007 Spice Girls reunion tour grossed more than $70 million! 5 Years: The 2012 death of Whitney Houston made headlines around the world. The singer was only 48 years old. Other rock deaths that year included Robin Gibb of The Bee Gees, Adam "MCA" Yauch of The Bestie Boys, Jon Lord of Deep Purple, Donna Summer and Davy Jones of The Monkees.
