Aubrey Drake Graham was born in Toronto on October 24, 1986. His Dad is a drummer who worked with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, and his uncle played bass with Sly & The Family Stone. His parents divorced when Aubrey was 5, and he was raised by his mother in Toronto, though he spent most summers with his father in Memphis, Tennessee. Aubrey started acting while attending High School. He was 15 when he landed the role of High School Basketball Star Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian Teen TV series "Degrassi: The Next Generation." He spent seven seasons of the show, much of that time confined to a wheelchair after a plotline that had his character paralyzed following a shooting. Other acting credits include the Robert Downing Jr. movie "Charlie Bartlett" In 2006, under the name Drake, he released his first mixtape "Room for Improvement" through his website and myspace page. In 2007, Drake became the first unsigned Canadian rapper to have a video featured on BET, thansk to his "Replacement Girl," which featured R&B star Trey Songz. In 2008, Lil Wayne heard drake's music and immediately flew him out to Houston to begin working together. In early 2009, Drake's "So Far Gone" mixtape, which featured the smash-hit track "Best I Ever Had" made him one of the hottest prospects in hip-hop, and it wasn't long before major record labels were fighting for his signature. Staring with 2010's "Thank Me Later" and continuing with "Take Care" "Nothing Was the Same" and 2016's "Views" all four of Drake's albums to date have debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, as have the mixtapes "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" and his collaboration with Future, "What A Time To Be Alive." he was enjoying a lengthy list of hit singles, including "Hot Line Bling" "One Dance" (featuring Wizkid and Kyla) and his recent chart-topping collaboration with Rihanna, "work"
