Born in Los Angeles to Honduran parents on April 18, 1984, America Georgine Ferrera has been acting since she was 7 years old. She signed with a small talent agency when she was 16 years old, and began the rounds of auditions. The following year, she got her first big break when she was cast in the Disney Channel TV movie "Gotta Kick It Up!" That led to the starring role in the HBO production 'Real Women Have Curves" appearances on TV shows such as "Touched By An Angel" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" was followed by a string of films, including two that debuted the same week in 2005- the skateboarding movie "Lords of Dogtown" and the teen drama "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" America's rise to the top was completed when she was cast in the title role of the ABC series "Ugly Betty" co-produced by Salma Hayek and based on "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea" a colombian telenovela that spawned similar versions in countries from India to Mexico and from Israel to Russia, the show was one of 2006's Big TV hits and went on to run for four seasons. Subsequent credits have ranged from a recurring role on TV's "The Good Wife" to voicing Astrid the Viking in the "How to Train Your Dragon" movies the hit sitcom which she also co-produces.
