Born Christian Michael Leonard Hawkins in New York on August 18, 1969, Christian Slater was trained at the professional children's school and the high schol of the performing arts made famous in the movie and TV series "Fame." He began his career as a child on the soap opera "One Life to Live" before making his Broadway debut opposite Dick Van Dyke in a production of "The Music Man" further broadway roles and tv work followed before he made his movie debut in 1985's "The Legend of Billie Jean" going on to pick up good notches in movies as diverse as "Gleaming the Cube" and "The Name of the Rose" 1989's "Heathers" and 1990's "Pump Up the Volume" earned him teen pinup status. Although his private life saw him develop a Hollywood bad-boy reputation, the early 1990's brought success in the likes of "Young Guns II" "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" "Mobsters" "True Romance" and "Untamed Heart" He replaced River Phoenix in 1994's "Interview With the Vampire" following the young actor's tragic death and donated his entire salary to charity. "Broken Arrow" topped the box office charts in 1996, and his subsequent credits included "Very Bad Things" "The Contender" "3000 Miles to Graceland" and "Windtalkers" he appeared on such TV shows such as "Alias" and "The West Wing" voiced characters in TV and movies and returned to the stage, starring in London's West End. In 2008, he starred in the short-lived TV series "My Own Worst Enemy" and the following year saw him take the lead in the tv show "The Forgotten" he went on to star in "Breaking In" and "Mind Games" but those shows also failed to find the transaction. That trend was reversed with the title role on the hit show "Mr. Robot" his performance earning him a number of awards, including a golden globe!
