Jason Statham was born in Shirebrook, England in 1967. His parents were aspiring entertainers who made their living selling from market stalls and running mock auctions. Where they would convince the public that "Liquidation Goods" were being offered at knockdown prices. After he left school, Jason threw himself into the family trade with gusto, and although his market business was licensed and legal, he craftily operated from an upturned crate to create the impression that wares were outlaw bargains that had to be grabbed before the long arm of the law intervened. Jason was also an outstanding athlete, excelling at martial arts, and soccer, and was a member of the British diving squad. Success as a diver led to his recruitment as a male model and opened the doors to an acting career when he was subsequently introduced to director Guy Ritchie. An inspired Ritchie cast him as a street-wise con artist in 1998's "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" Jason starred in Ritchie's next hit, 2000's "Snatch" seizing his chance. He set his sights on Hollywood, and thanks to starring roles in the likes of "The Transporter" and "Crank" both of which have spawned hit sequels- he quickly established himself as a tough-guy leading man. His action-hero status was confirmed with his starring role in "The Expendables" series of movies. Although he was ventured into lighter fare- he voiced a character hardman persona in the Melissa McCarthy comedy "Spy" action movies remain "Jason's forte. This month sees him star in "Mechanic: Resurrection" the sequel to 2011's "The Mechanic" and he will make his third outing in the "Fast & Furious" series when he stars in next years "Fast 8"
