The first South African to win a major academy award, Charlize Theron was born in August 7, 1975. She launched her modeling career in Europe at the age of 16 and trained wiht the Joffrey Ballet School in New York before making her way to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles. Charlize made her screen debut in the 1995 horror movie "Children Of The Corn III: Urban Harvest" By the end of the decade, thanks to roles in the likes of "Mighty Joe Young," "The Astronaut's Wife" and "The Cinder House Rules" she was one of the fastest-rising young stars in Hollywood. In 1999, she was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair as the White Hot Venus." The following yera, she starred in four movies: "Reindeer Games," "The Yards" "The Legend Of Bagger Vance" and "Men of Honor," She continued to make movies that underscored her status as one of the Great Hollywood Beauties... but her performance in 2003's "Monster" established her as a great actress. Charlize gained 30 pounds, abandoned make-up and donned prosthetic teeth for her portrayal of real-life serial killer in "Monster" and he was rewarded wiht a slew of honors, including best actress Oscar and Golden Globe Awards. The 2004 HBO movie "The Life and Death Of Peter Sellers" brought Golden Globe and Emmy award nominations for her portrayal of Britt Ekland, and she received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for the 2005 drama "North Country." 2008's "Hancock" in which Charlize co-starred with Will Smith, grossed $624 million at the box office! Her performance in 2011's "Young Adult" earned her a golden globe nomination. She has gone to star in "Snow White and The Huntsman" "Prometheus" "A Million Ways to Die In The West" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." This month sees her reprise her Queen Ravenna role in "The Huntsman: Winter's War."
