Demi Lovato The daughter of a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, Demi Lovato was born Demetria Devonne Lovato in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 20, 1992. Demi began her tv career at the age of 6 when she ladned a role on TV's "Barney & Friends." she spent two seasons on the show, starring alongside best friend and future Disney star Selena Gomez. A 2006 appearance on "Prison Break" was followed by a regular role on the Disney Channel's "As The Bell Rings" series, which also featured some of her original songs. In 2008, Demi starred with the Jonas Brothers that summer, she released her debut album, "Don't Forget" which reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts. Demi became Disney's latest leading lady when her series, "Sonny With A Chance," debuted in early 2009. That summer, she teamed up with Selena Gomez, who was now star of "Wizards of Waverly Place," in the Disney Channel original movie "Princess Protection Program." Her sophomore album, "Here We Go Again," debuted at the top of the Billboard Charts! But success was tempered by a battle with health and personal issues, and Demi's career was put on hold while she recovered. She returned stronger than ever with the hit 2011 album "Unbroken" and has since followed up with two more top-five albums- "Demi" and "Confident" and a string of hit singles. Demi is involved with several social and environmental causes and has environmental causes and has created a foundation that mentors young people with mental health issues.
