Born in Oakland, California, on September 25, 1951, Mark Hamill attended a number of schools growing up, including high school in Japan. He later majored in drama at Los Angeles city college and was soon racking up TV credits, including roles on "The Bill Cosby Show." "The Partridge Family" "Cannon" "General Hospital" and "The Streets of San Francisco" His friend actor Robert Englund thought Mark might be perfect for a part in an upcoming sci-fi movie and urged him to audition. Mark took the advice... and landed the role that changed his life forever! Released in 1977, "Star Wars" -later retitled "Star Wars Episode IV" A New Hope" became the highest-grossing film of all time to that point and received 10 Oscar nominations. It launched one of the most successful franchises in movie history, and the leading role of Luke Skywalker, which he reprised in the sequels "The Empire Strike Back" and "Return Of The Jedi" made Mark a star. But it also left him typecast, so he turned his attention to theater and spent much of the 1980's on Broadway. Mark has established himself as a prolific voice actor in movies, tv and video games. Most notably, he has voiced The Joker in numerous animated "Batman" productions. The role has earned him multiple awards and nominations. Over the years, he has added producer and director to his credits and is the co-writer of "The Black Pearl" a comic book miniseries he has also written several stories for "Simpsons Comics." This holiday season sees Mark return to his most famous role when he plays Luke Skywalker in the feverishly anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" A movie that also features series legends Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, among others!
