Kiera Knightley was born in London on March 26, 1985. Her dad is an actor and her mother is a playwright, so it was no surprise that Keira began acting at an early age, appearing in numerous British TV productions, at 14, she was cast as Sabe, Queen Padame Amidala's decoy in "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace." A starring role as Robin Hood's daughter in Disney's "Princess Of Thieves" was followed by the thriller "The Hole." In the summer of 2001, while studying for school exams, 16-year-old Keira filmed the low-budget "Bend It Like Beckham." The following year, she was cast in "Love Actually" and starred in a lavish TV production of "Doctor Zhivago." Before these productions saw the light of day, she landed the role that would make her a worldwide star- Elizabeth Swann, opposite Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, in "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl" released in the summer of 2003, the movie raked in more than $560 million! At the same time, great word of mouth helped make "Bend It Like Beckham" the unlikely sleeper hit of the year. The likes of "Atonement," for which she received a Golden Globe nomination, and "The Duchess" cemented her reputation... as did the Laurence Olivier Award nomination she earned for her London West End stage debut in a reworking of Moliere's "The Misanthrope." she received great acclaim for 2012's "Anna Karenina" and in 2014, she starred in "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" and earned her second Oscar nomination for her performance in "The Imitation Game." Earlier this year, Keira and husband James Righton, of the band Klaxons, welcomed the birth of their first child, a daughter. This month sees the release of "Everest" in which she has a supporting role, before she makes her debut on the broadway stage in October as the lead in "Therese Raquin."
