Kate Mara was born in Bedford, New York, on February 27, 1983, into a pro football dynasty- one great grandfather was the founder of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and another was the founder of the New York Giants. She made her tv debut in a 1997 episode of "Law & Order" and two years later appeared in the movie "Random Hearts" with Harrison Ford and Kristin Scott Thomas. Subsequent TV credits included "Ed" "Everwood" and "Nip/Tuck" and her movie work included "Joe The King" and "Tadpole." she gained further prominence in 2005 with roles in the TV series "Jack & Bobby" and the hit movie "Brokeback Mountain" 2006 saw her join the cast of TV's "24" and appear in the movies "Zoom" and "We Are Marshall." Her star was rising, and the roles were getting bigger - From the Mark Wahlberg thriller "Shooter" and Woody Harrelson's "Transsiberian" to the comedy "Stone of Destiny" Kate had recurring roles on "Entourage" and "American Horror Story: Murder House" and had high-profile roles in 127 Hours" and "IronClad" Her Portrayal of Journalist Zoe Barnes on the Netflix smash "House of Cards" earned Kate an Emmy award nomination and she starred opposite Johnny Depp in the 2014 movie "Transcendence." Kate's younger sister, Rooney, enjoyed huge acclaim with her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." A role that brought an Oscar nomination. Now 2015 is shaping up to be Kate's year. Her starring role as Sue Storm in this summer's action epic "Fantastic Four" will be followed by Ridley Scott's "The Martian." "Man Down" opposite Shia LaBeouf and "Captive" with David Oyelowo.
