Brandon Flowers was born in Henderson, Nevada on June 21, 1981, raised in Nephi, Utah, he returned to Las Vegas in his teens and was working as a caddy at a private golf course when he formed his first band, Blush Response. But when Brandon declined to move with the band to Los Angeles, he was jettisoned from the group. He was working as a casino bellhop when he answered gutarist Dave Keuning's local newspaper ad. They called their band The Killers, a name inspired by the fictitious group in the video for the New Order hit "Crystal" the original bassist and drummer were soon replaced by Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. By the summer of 2003, the band was attracting record company interest, which led to a deal with a British Indie label. The U.K. music press and BBC radio began to champion the band. In 2004, The Killers enjoyed hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic, and their debut album, "Hot Fuss" became a U.K No. 1 and a U.S. top 10 hit, earning a slew of industry award nominations in the process. In 2005, The Killers played some huge concerts, including the U.K famous glastonbury festival and the Live 8 concert. They also supported U2 on tour in Europe. The band's second album, "Sam's Town," was released in late 2006, to much acclaim. It reached No. 2 on the U.S. Charts. 2008 brought the release of the album "Day & Age" which contained the hit single "Human." A world tour saw the band headline the Lollapalooza and Coachella festivals in the U.S. in 2009. In 2010, a number of tour dates were cancelled following the death of Brandon's Mother. That same year, he released a solo album, "Flamingo," The Killers released their fourth studio album, "Battle Born" in 2012, it debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. charts. Brandon's second solo album, "The Desired Effect," is to be released later this month.
