Vin Diesel Vin Diesel was born Mark Sinclair Vincent in New York on July 18, 1967. He made his stage debut at the age of 7 when he and his twin brother Paul, appeared in a children's play in Greenwhich Village. He continued to act during his adolescence, and he honed his screenwriting skills in the creative writing classes he took while attending the city's Hunter College. He adopted the name Vin Diesel while working as a nightclub bouncer. Vin made his screen debut with an unaccredited appearance in the 1990 movie "Awakenings." He wrote, directed, produced and starred in 1994's "Multi-Facial," a short that was screened at the Cannes film festival. His first feature-length movie, 1997's "Strays" was followed by a role in "Saving Private Ryan." After voicing the lead in the animated movie "The Iron Giant" and starring in "Boiler Room" he landed the roles of the antihero Riddick in the sci-fi hit "Pitch Black" and Dominic Toretto in 2001s "The Fast And The Furious" both movies proved popular, and each has spawned a series of very successful sequels establishing Vin Diesel as a major action movie star in the process! He is also a very shrewd businessman, as demonstrated by his lengthy and impressive list of producer credits. Other hits have included "XXX" and "The Pacifier" and Vin also voiced the role of Groot in the hugely successful "Guardians of The Galaxy." His latest screen offering is the seventh movie in the "Furious" series!
