Born in Crieff, Scotland, on March 31, 1971, Ewan Gordon McGregor dropped out of Drama school to take the lead role in the 1993 BBC TV serial "Lipstick on Your Collar" in the early days of his career, he shared an apartment with Jude Law, and the two later formed a production company with friends. Ewan met his wife, designer Eve Mavrakis when they worked together on an episode of the U.K tv series "Kavanagh QC." they married in 1995 and have four children. McGregor made his film debut in 1994's "Being Human." Before starring in three films for director Danny Boyle that established him as one of British cinema's bright young stars - the dark thriller "Shallow Grave" the cult favorite "Trainspotting." and the romantic comedy "A Life Less Ordinary." The likes of "Velvet Goldmine" and "Little Voice" continued to showcase his versatility, and his elevation to the Hollywood a-list was confirmed when he has cast in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy in the role that Sir Alec Guinness had first made famous, the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. As well as starring in movies as diverse as "Black Hawk Down" "Moulin Rouge" and "The Island" he voiced characters in the animated for a Laurence Oliver Award for his work on the London Stage of Othello." Following his portrayal of a priest in the sequel to "The Da Vinci Code," the box-office hit "Angels & Demond," he teamed up with George Clooney in "The Men Who Stare At Goats." More recent credits range from the romantic "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and the black comedy "August: Osage County" to the fantasy fable "Jack The Giant Slayer." He starts 2015 with the Johnny Dep comedy "Mortdecai" and the upcoming western drama "Jane Got A Gun." A unicef Ambassador, McGregor was awarded an O.B.E. medal in 2013 for services to drama and charity.
