2015: Milestones in TV & Movies This week, we will look at some of the major milestones in the world of TV and movies that will be reached in 2015. 100 years: 2015 sees the 100th anniversary of the birth of some of the great names in cinema history. From Eli Wallach to Anthony Quinn, and such TV greats as "Bonanza" star Lorne Greene and Harry Morgan of "Dragnet" and "Mash" fame. Actor and Filmmaker Orson Welles was born in 1915. His "Citizen Kane" made in 1941 is considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made. The following year saw the release of "Casablanca" in which Ingrid Bergman starred with Humphrey Bogart a three-time academy award winner. Bergman wa born in Sweeden in 1915. 60 years: 24-year old, James Dean was killed in 1955, when he crashed his sports car near Shandon, California. He starred in just three movies, two of which weren't even released until after his death. The first actor to receive a posthumous best actor Oscar nomination, he remains a screen icon. 2015 is also the 60th anniversary of the birth of two of Hollywood's most famous leading men, two-time Academy award winner Kevin Costner and "Die Hard" action movie star Bruce Willis. To Date, Bruce Willis' movies have generated more than $2.5 billion at the box office. 50 years: Robert Downey Jr. has starred in a string of huge Blockbusters and has topped the list of highest-paid actors for the last two years in a row. The former Hollywood "Bad Boy" turns 50 years old in 2015. Since it first aired in 1965, the animated "A Charlie Brown Christmas" TV special has become a beloved Christmas tradition. It usually airs twice each holiday season. 40 Years: One-time Hollywood "Wild Child" Angelina Jolie is now a mother of six and a tireless humanitarian and advocate for social justice. The Academy Award-winning actress and acclaimed filmmaker married Brad Pitt in 2014. Jolie turns 40 years later this year. 30 Years: The 1985 death of TV and movie star Rock Hudson sent shockwaves around the world. The 59-year-old was the first major celebrity to die from an aid-related illness. Phil Silvers, aka TV's Seargeant Bilko, died in 1985 at the age of 74. 20 Years: "Toy Story" the first feature-length computer-animated movie and the first feture movie from Pixar, debuted in 1995. It earned $361 million worldwide, spawned a huge franchise and established Pixar as a major studio. 11 yeas later, the Walt Disney Company bought Pixar at a vulation of $7.4 billion! Based on the hit BBC sitcom created by Ricky Gervais, the U.S. version of "The Office" debuted in 2005. The series went on to receive 42 prime-time Emmy award nominations over the 9 seasons it was on the Air!
