Biographic Steve McGarry Noomi Rapace The daughter of a Swedish actress and a Spanish Flamenco Singer, Noomi Rapace was born Noomi Noren in Hudiksvall, Sweden, on December 28, 1979. She made her acting debut at the age of seven in a film called "In the Shadow of the Raven," and enrolled in drama school in Stockholm at the age of 15. Noomi married Swedish actor Ola Norell in 2001, and the couple took the surname Rapace, which means "bird of prey" in french and Italian. The marriage, which lasted 10 years, produced one child, a son, Lev. After winning acclaim throughout Scandinavia for her TV, stage, and film work, Noomi earned international recognition for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in a 2009 trio of Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson's best-selling novels "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The girl who Played with Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest." Hollywood came calling and Noomi was cast in her first English-speaking role, as Madam Simza Heron in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." She followed that with a starring role in Ridley Scott's 2012 hit, "Prometheus." Subsequent credits ranged from starring roles in 2013's "Dead Man Down," opposite Colin Farrell, and the thriller "Passion," to appearing in videos for Kasabian and The Rolling Stones. This month sees Noomi star opposite Tom Hardy - Bane in the Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises" - and James Gandolfini in his final role, in the eagerly awaited "The Drop," written by "Mystic River" author Dennis Lehane.
