Biographic Steve McGarry Bruce Willis Born on a U.S. military base in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, on March 198, 1955, Bruce Willis was raised in New Jersey. He worked as a bartender in New York while pursuing his acting ambitions, appearing in off-Broadway theater productions and landing minor TV and commercial work. He rocketed to stardom in 1985 when he was cast as private eye David Addison opposite Cybill Shepherd on the hit TV show "Moonlighting." He married actress Demi Moore in 1987, a union that would last 13 years and produce three children. That same year, he hit the top five on the pop charts with his version of The Staple Singers classic "Respect Yourself." By the early 1990s, Bruce was a superstar, thanks to the huge success of the first two "Die Hard" movies and his voice work as Little Mikey in the "Look Who's Talking" films. His occasional duds, such as "Hudson Hawk" and "Mercury Rising," have been eclipsed by the success of movies such as "Pulp Fiction," "Armageddon" and "The Fifth Element." His movies have made him a wealthy man, with his salary for the likes of "Unbreakable" and "Hart's War" reportedly topping the $20 million mark. It's been speculated that, with options, his reward for the 1999 hit "The Sixth Sense" topped $100 million! 2013 sees him reprise his trademark John McClane action hero role in "A Good Day to Die Hard," the fifth installment of the "Die Hard" series, before starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."
