Biographic Steve McGarry Jamie Foxx Born in Terrell, Texas, on December 13, 1967, and raised by his grandparents, Eric Marlon Bishop was a natural athlete - he was the star quarterback on his high school football team - as well as a gifted pianist and singer. He went to college in San Diego, California, on a music scholarship, but dropped out in 1988 to pursue his music business ambitions in Los Angeles, until a talent for impressions began to open doors to a comedy career. He adopted the Jamie Foxx, and in 1991, he was snapped up to star in the TV sketch series "In Living Color." During his three years on the show, Jamie also took a recurring role on the sitcom "Roc," and revived his musical career, releasing an album and touring. In 1996, "the Jamie Foxx Show" debuted, and during the show's successful five-year run, his Hollywood star began to rise thanks to roles in movies such as "The Great White Hype," "Booty Call," "Any Given Sunday," "Bait," "Shade" and "Ali." Jamie was featured along with Kanye West on Twista's chart-topper "Slow Jamz." He earned a best supporting actor Oscar nomination for his performance opposite Tom Cruise in the thriller "Collateral," and went on to win the Best Actor Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Ray Charles in "Ray." He collaborated with Kanye West on "Gold Digger," a 2005 track that topped the U.S. Charts for 10 weeks. Jamie's "Unpredictable" topped the album charts that same year. He enjoyed a huge hit with the 2008 single "blame It," and has collaborated wtih the likes of Drake, Wiz Khalifa and Justin Timberlake. Movies such as "Stealth," "Jarhead," "Miami Vice," "Dreamgirls," "The Kingdom" and "Law Abiding Citizen" have served to underscore Jamie's superstar status. Following his starring role in "Django Unchained," He will appear as the President of the United States in the thriller "White House Down."
