Born in London, on September 15, 1977, and educated at private schools, Tom Hardy worked briefly as a model while attending drama school. His acting career was launched in 2001 the TV miniseries "Band of Brothers" and "Black Hawk Down." He followed the high-profile role of Praetor Shinzon, a clone of captain Jean-Luc Picard, in "Star Trek: Nemesis" with acclaimed performances on the London stage and in a string of smaller movies. His british tv credits included "Colditz" "The Virgin Queen" "Wuthering Heights" and a dark portrayal of the villainous Bill Sikes in "Oliver Twist" while his movie role included Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla" and the lead in 2008's "Bronson" a role that earned him a british independent film award for best actor. He starred as Heathcliff in a 2009 production of "Withering Heights" that cast him opposite his subsequent fiancee Charlotte Riley. Tom's star was rising fast- and the 2010 Blockbuster "Inception" earned him awards acclaim and audience attention. In 2011, he packed on the muscle to play the lead in the fight drama "Worrior" and replaced Michael Fassbender in the espionage drama "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy." both roles earning him further awards recognition. In early 2012, Tom starred opposite Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine in the spy romance "This means war." "The Dark Knight Rises" saw him beef up even more to play Batman's nemesis, the menacing Bane, in one of hte biggest movies of the year. Now firmly established as a major Hollywood star, Hardy is slated to appear in a number of high-profile projects, including the prohibition-era "Lawless" as well as taking on the roles of Mad Max in a new Road Warrior movie and the infamous Al Capone in the upcoming "Cicero" gangester trilogy.
