Scarlett Johansson was born in New York City on November 22, 1984. A child actress, her early credits included 1994s "North" with Elijah Wood, "Just Cause" with Sean Connery, "Home Alone 3" and "The Horse Whisperer" Three movies released in 2001 established her as one of Hollywood's most promising teens- the film noir homage "The Man Who Wasn't There" the hip and quirky black comedy "Ghost World" and the poignant "An American Rhapsody" That promise was fulfilled two years later in two widely acclaimed movies "Lost in Translation" cast Scarlett opposite Bill Murray in a subtle tale of unlikely love that earned a slew of awards, including an Oscar for writer and director Sophia Coppola. "Girl with A Pearl Earring" was a cinematic homage to 17th-century dutch painter Vermeer. Both movies earned Scarlett Golden Globe nominations. 2004's "A Love Song for Bobby Long" and the 2005's Woody Allen movie "Match Point" brought two more Golden Globe nominations- and in between, she made time to voice a role in "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie" She made two more films with Woody Allen "Scoop" and "Vicky Christina Barcelona" and tackled movies as diverse as "The Black Dahlia" and "The Other Boleyn Girl." Away from the screen, she launched a singing career, releasing a well-received album in 2008 and won a 2010 Tony Award for her Broadway debut in the Arthur Miller play "A View From the Bridge" Her marriage to Ryan Reynolds ended in divorce in 2011, More recently Scarlett has established herself as an action star, playing the Black Widow in "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers" now in theaters.
