Born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant in New York City on June 21, 1986, she was raised in Lake Placid, New York, and attended boarding school in Connecticut before studying metaphysics at New York's Fordham University. She began performing as Lizzy Grant at open-mic nights, alongside the likes of Stefani Germanotta who would soon find fame as Lady Gaga. Lizzy signed a deal with a small indie label and released an EP in 2008, followed by an album in 2010. The release of her single "Video Games" kickstarted a massive virtual buzz-to date, the video has attracted more than 30 million views! She quickly became a blog sensation, and major labels soon came calling. Early in 2012, following an appearance in "SNL" her album "Born to Die" debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. charts and No. 1 on seven others worldwide. Including the U.K. and Australia. The eponymous single, thanks in part to another viral hit video also charted worldwide. Meanwhile Lana Del Rey has begun to collect the first of many industry awards that will undoubtedly be coming her way.
