Taylor Kitsch was born in Kelowa, British Columbia, Canada, on April 8, 1981. He looked set to become a professional hockey player- he played for the Langley Hornets in the British Columbia Hockey League- until a knee injury ended his career prospects. He moved to New York in 2002 to pursue modeling opportunities, appearing in ads for the likes of Ambercrombie & Fitch and Diesel. He also became certified as a personal trainer and nutritionist while taking acting classes. His acting career took off like a rocket in 2006, he appeared on the TV shows "Godiva's" and "Kyle XY" had minor roles in "John Tucker Must Die" and "Snakes On a Plane" and enjoyed a featured role in the supernatural thriller "The Covenant" Next up was a major role in the network tv series "Friday Night Lights" playing football star Tim Riggins. Between seasons, he found time to film the movie "Gospel Hill" and landed the high-profile role of Gambit, a Cajun thief with supernatural powers, in 2009's box-office smash "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The following year, he starred in "The Bang Bang Club" a movie set in South Africa during the final days of apartheid. Now, with the lead role in the epic sci-fi extravaganza "John Carter" as well as top billing in the movies "Battleship" and "Savages" which are slated for release later this year- Taylor Kitsch has announced his arrival at the head of Hollywood's new a-list.
