A sports superstar whose skills have benefitted a number of the world's greatest teams, he is fabulously wealthy, is married to a beautiful pop star and is stylish and handsome enough to grace magazine covers from London to Los Angeles, and Madrid to Melbourne. David Beckham is the most famous soccer player on the planet.  Born in London, on May 2, 1975, David Beckham grew up soccer-crazy and a manchester United fanatic! His boyhood dreams came true when he was signed as United trainee, and he made his first tream debut at the age of 17. By 1995, he was one of the team's brightest stars.  Manchester United dominated the English game in the mid-1990s, and David's contributions earned him in the 1997 young player of the year award.  He also became a regular for the national team. He scored his first goal for England in the opening stages of the 1998 world cup- but a movement of petulance earned him a red card in a crucial subsequent game against Argentina. Ten-Man England battled on but lost the eventual penalty shootout and exited the tournament. Transformed from national hero to villain, he was hounded by the press and scorned by irate fans. Many observers predicted he would have to join a foreign team to escape! But if 1998 was a year to forget, 1999 was a year to remember! He was outstanding as United became champions of Europe, and he was his pop-star girlfriend, Spice Girl Victoria Adams, celebrated the birth of their first child and were married in a lavish ceremony held in a fairy-tale Irish Castle. When David was appointed England Captain in 2001, the transformation from sinner to saint was complete. In 2003, shortly after winning a sixth championship with United and receiving an Obe award from Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, he signed for Spanish giants Real Madrid in a multimillion-dollar deal! The second of two loan periods in Italy with Ac Milan ended with a torn Achilles that ruled hi out of the 2010 world cup. David recovered to help inspire the Galaxy to an MLS cup victory. Settled with his wife and four children in sunny California, he recently signed a new two-year deal with the Galaxy, of the field, his fame and his business empire continue to grow, as evidenced by the high-profile tv commercial for his new clothing line that debuted during the super bowl.
