Born Armando Christian Perez in Miami, Florida, on January 15, 1981, the son of Cuban immigrants. He was reciting poetry for locals in the bars of little Havana by the time he was 3 years old. He began rapping in high school, adopting the nickname Pitbull, championed by Luther Campbell of 2 Live Crew, he came to the attention of rapper and producer Lil Jon and the two were soon collaborating. Word of mouth quickly established Pitbull as one of the hottest artists of the Miami scene. After appearing on the 2002 Lil Jon album "Kings Of Crunk" he was featured on the soundtrack to the movie "2 Fast 2 Furious" the following year. He released his debut album "M.I.A.M.I" in 2004, and thanks to the club hit such as "Culo" and "Toma" the album went gold, topping the Billboard Independent charts and hitting the mainstream top 20. Over the next few years, he continued to build his reputation, touring with Eminem and 50 Cent appearing on UPN's "South Beach" and launching his own variety show on The mun2 cable network. His major breakthrough came with his fourth album 2009's "Rebelution," The single "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" was an international smash hit, as was the follow up "Hotel Room Service" A spanish-language album "Armando" was released in late 2010. "Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor), featuring T-Pain, the debut single from his sixth studio album, "Planet Pit," hit the Billboard Top 10, as did the next single, "Give Me Everything" The summer of 2011 finds Pitbull sitting on the top of singles charts all over the world. Thanks to his "On The Floor" collaborations with Jennifer Lopez.
