Cameron Michelle Diaz was born in San Diego, California, on August 30, 1972. She embarked on a modeling career at the age of 16, and worked all over the world, for a number of major client, throughout her teens. Her career path took a major detour when she landed the female lead opposite Jim Carrey in "The Mask" even though she had no previous acting experience. The movie was a huge success and her performance was widely acclaimed. She went on to appear in a number of low-budget indie movies including "She's The One" "Feeling Minnesota" and "Head Above Water." Cameron was scheduled to star in the 1995 action movie "Mortal Kombat" until she broke her hand and the role went to Bridgette Wilson. But the disappointment was assuaged when she landed starring roles in the hits "My Best Friend's Wedding" and There's Something About Mary" for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. She received a second Golden Globe nomination for 1999's "Being John Malkovich." The new millenium brought the smash hits "Charlies Angels" and "Shrek" both of which have generated a string of sequels and huge returns at the box office. Other credits included "Vanilla Sky" with Tom Cruise and "Gangs of New York" with Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis- both of which brought further Golden Globe nominations. In recent years, she has continued to rack up impressive credits, in movies such as "The Holiday" "What Happens in Vegas" "Knight And Day" "The Green Hornet" and "Bad Teacher" which teamed her with former beau Justin Timberlake. During 2010, Forbes Magazine ranked Cameron Diaz- whose parental grandparents moved to the U.S. from Cuba- as the richest female hispanic celebrity in the world!
