Daniel Jacob Radcliffe was born in London on July 23, 1989. He was interested in acting at a very early age, although his experience was limited to playing a monkey in a school play- until he landed the title role in a 1999 BBC tv production of "David Copperfield" opposite Bob Hoskins and Maggie Smith, he made his movie debut in 2001's "The Tailor Of Panama" before being cast in the role that would change his young life.... boy wizard Harry Potter. The amazing success of the series of books by author J.K. Rowling ensured that interest in the movies was intense. By the time "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" (or Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone" as it was known in the U.K. and Canada) topped box office charts worldwide on its release in late 2001, the unprecedented media coverage had already made Dan a huge star. The movie adaptations have generated more than $6 billion in receipts so far! After appearing as himself in the Ricky Gervais tv series "Extras" in 2006, Daniel earned plaudits for his work in London and New York productions of the play "Equus." He also starred in the British tv drama "My Boy Jack" and the Australian movie "December Boys." In the summer of 2011, as the final installment of the Harry Potter series hits movie screens, Daniel has returned to the Broadway stage in a revival of "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" an appropriate role for a 21-year-old who has reputedly earned in the region of $100 million to date!
