When she was dropped from the cast of the Michael Chiklis sitcom "Daddio" before the pilot had even aired, 12-year-old Hillary Duff considered quitting showbiz. But her mother urged her to stick with it, and a week later the young actress landed the lead on the TV series "Lizzie McGuire" The show became a springboard for a meteoric rise to stardom that was seen Hilary conquer the worlds of television, movies and pop music. "Daddio" meanwhile, was canceled after just a handful of episodes... Born in Houston, Texas, on September 28, 1987, Hilary Duff was 6 years old when she performed alongside her older sister, Haylie, in a production of "The Nutcracker Suite" the girls subsequently moved to Los Angeles with their mother to pursue acting ambitions, while their father stayed home in Texas to run the family business. Following parts in TV commercials, Hilary made uncredited appearances in the 1997 TV miniseries "True Women" and the movie "Playing By Heart" before landing the starring role in the 1998 movie "Casper Meets Wendy." More TV work led to the lead on the tv series "Lizzie McGuire." The show was a huge ratings success for The Disney Channel and established Hilary as a teen star! The title role in the television movie "Cadet Kelly" was followed by the 2003 hit film "Agent Cody Banks" opposite fellow teen star Frankie Muniz. "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" was a box-office hit that also boosted her music career, thanks to the hit spinoff single "Why Not." That same year, "Metamorphasis" propelled by the hit single "So Yesterday" topped the U.S. and Canadian album charts. It was the first of three platinum-selling albums that included the 2005 chart-topping compilation "Most Wanted." She starred in a string of movies
